a wedding story:

i am getting married in a short while. 67 days, actually, as the knot refuses to allow me to forget. thusly, i've been working in flawless concert with my honey to get things accomplished.

actual photo of planning in progress; note the intensity of the facial expressions.

to wit:

  • wedding dress; it is very difficult to find one without spangles, glitter and froufrou. in order to do so, you must end up somewhere that will make it custom. this is an expensive and painstaking process, but well worth it. this is not my dress, by the way - but it *is* somewhere on this site...
  • honeymoon; the progression: south of france - decided too much stress to speak foreign language so soon after wedding; hawaii - takes too long to get there; cancun - run-of-the-mill, with possibility for hurricane; the winner: aruba - outside of hurricane belt, windmills and braided trees, excuse to yell "bonbini!" (papiamento for "hello")
  • tuxedos; with such a dizzying array of options, it's little wonder we're bamboozled. so, why don't you decide for us? let us know your favorites; we need to order them this week.

last week i received a bill for $650 for a veil that i didn't even really want. it was nice enough - a wire crown studded with tiny crystals and a long two-layered veil - but come on. $650 american dollars for a piece of plastic and a square of fluff. once i overcame my apoplectic state, i immediately called said vendor to cancel the veil. the next time i get married, my ass will be here. also, i'll wear a red dress.

so much to wrinkle our foreheads over. thank god for this and this or i would have gone off the edge long long ago.
