okay. i just heard from a friend in ny who i was unable to get in touch with, so i am feeling slightly better about things. however, as a former new yorker (and as an american citizen), i feel heartbroken. the events of the past couple days have been incomprehensible.
i wasn't able to give blood (damn belly piercing) but there are other ways to help. amazon has set up a red cross donation link on their page - it's almost impossible to get to the red cross' actual site. donations can start at a dollar - click the link to contribute.
but i suppose there is a light at the end of all of this: we're finally going to get the long-awaited strip mall in the southside on the former site of LTV steel - where my father worked for years. progress is so fucking grand.
