after the glow, the scene, the stage, the set
talk becomes slow but there's one thing i'll never forget:
hey, you gotta pay your dues before you pay the rent.
over the turnstile turn out in the traffic
there's ways of living it's the way i'm living
right or wrong, it's all that i can do,
and i wouldn't want to let you be
i want a range life, if i could settle down,
if i could settle down, then i would settle down...
-pavement, "range life"

today ed and i reconfigured my half of the home-office. it is much more functional now - i have shelves and an additional desk and more shelves. it is a wonderful thing, being in such close proximity to ikea. those darn swedes sure know how to get a space organized.
yesterday we went sea kayaking on the shenango river. we paddled for a few hours and got up-close and personal with a great blue heron, one of my favorite large friendly birds. this is what they sound like; they're amazing birds. when i first started dating ed, i was visiting him in kent, and one night and there was an unexpected snowfall soon after i arrived. we had spent several hours in a local pub and were shuffling back through the soft white carpet of snow when we wandered down to the reservoir area and saw 3 or 4 great blue herons standing peacefully around us, chattering softly in the snow. it was - unforgettable.
