ed is away in vegas. i've been taking myself out on dates to the movies and the pool and to yummy fish restaurants. it is nice to have some me time before all of the wedding stuff explodes.

this weekend, i tried indoor tanning for the first time. overall, i am opposed to subjecting oneself to the possibility of skin cancer for something as trivial as a suntan. however, as the wedding looms close, i realize that i need to blend in my uneven tan on my shoulders in order to avoid looking like a dork in my gown. so i gave in, boldly striding into the tanning salon and making a series of appointments. saturday was my first. there is something extremely disconcerting about standing in a small stall with white-hot lights on all sides, clad in skimpy undies and grabbing onto bars on the ceiling while the microwaves slowly burn your skin brown. it was pretty frightening, actually, but after only 6 minutes in the microwave i saw noticeable improvement by evening. i am a big fan of better living through technology and chemistry.

last week ed and i had dinner with peter and paul (tee hee). peter is an ex-boyfriend from my lycos days. it was much more relaxed than i had any right to expect. more on that later.
